Bauchi State has reaffirmed its commitment to implementing local government autonomy. This decision was reached after a stakeholders' meeting, which brought together top government officials, including Governor Bala Mohammed, his deputy, Mohammed Awwal Jatau, and other key stakeholders.

The meeting, which was attended by members of the state assembly, local government chairmen, and other parastatals, extensively discussed the modalities for implementing local government autonomy in the state.

The stakeholders agreed that bills regarding local government administration and local government law would be sent to the state house of assembly for consideration and possible passage.

According to the Secretary to the State Government, Honourable Aminu Hammayo, the Bala Mohammed-led administration is built on the principles of equity, justice, transparency, and accountability. He assured that the implementation of local government autonomy would be done in a way that benefits the state and its people, without causing any unnecessary disruptions.

This development is a significant step towards empowering local governments in Bauchi State, allowing them to take charge of their own affairs and drive development at the grassroots level. As the state moves forward with this initiative, it is expected to have a positive impact on the lives of citizens, promoting economic growth, social development, and improved service delivery.
